We rode the ferry from Jamestown to Scotland

We really did. You didn't know you could take a ferry from Jamestown all the way to Scotland in half an hour, did you? Of course, it helps if it's Scotland, Virginia. :-)

The birds congregated on the pier.

No consumption of alcohol. No smoking.

On the way to the ferry, we stopped at the beach. It was a wonderful beach. There were rocks and trees and sand, and pretty shells. I took lots of pictures and Jonathan built a sand castle, with a gate and towers and a White Tree of Gondor smack in the center.

We also rescued someone's orange Frisbee from the water and made an imitation sunset. If nobody claimed it, I was going to give it a good home; but somebody did.

It was a really lovely day.

Sounds like fun! I've ridden that ferry before and thought the name was interesting, too.

I built a sand castle today. :-D

Also found some crabs, and was (slightly) stung by a jellyfish.

And got sunburned.

And ate at Poe's Tavern. (Did you know Edgar Allan Poe was in the U. S. Army and was posted to an island off the coast of South Carolina? Neither did I. But he got the inspiration for "The Golden Bug" there... and somebody else got the inspiration for a pretty nifty tavern featuring the aforementioned Poe.)

All in all, a good day. :-D
