I finally figured out why some of my sweaters feel too small. The shoulders are too narrow! The sleeves hit the bodice about an inch in from the corner, which makes my shoulders appear about the same width as my waist. No wonder I never wanted to wear them.
I don't know that there's anything to fix that, short of maybe insetting lace at the shoulders? That sounds like a lot of work and kind of weird. Recommendations?

From my limited seamstressing experience, it seems like you're going to have to inset more material somewhere - either at the shoulders or down the middle of the back. Unless there's somehow alot of seam-allowance in the shoulders that you could let-out . . .
Oh no, there's no material at all to let out at the shoulders. That's why I was toying with a lace inset. But now I'm thinking they're just beyond. :-(
That is so lame! You don't have broad shoulders at all..what are they designed for, a jellyfish? lace would work (try an iron-on seam maybe?) or just a little lace over-hang that is finished on both sides so it can just be stitched on. Love!
give em to me and I'll buy you new ones! :-)
